She was married 75 years this past October to Weaver Reitz. Born in Manheim, she was the daughter of the late Clayton and Katie Rudy Nissley.
Helen was a homemaker and a member of the Byerland Mennonite Church. She had been involved at the church as a Sunday School teacher, was a prayer warrior and was involved with the sewing circle for many years.
An avid seamstress, she had made a quilt for each of her children and grandchildren. She and her husband had volunteered for 12 years at Christian Aid Ministries and she had many comforter tops for them.
Surviving besides her husband is a son, Melvin N. husband of Pauline Hess Reitz of Lancaster; four daughters, Lois N. wife of Kenneth Miller of Mifflintown, Martha N. wife of Dale Nauman of Richland, Esther N. wife of Donald Eshleman of Pequea, and Marian N. wife of Robert Harnish of Lancaster; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Clayton R. husband of Martha Nissley of Lititz, and Wilmer R. husband of Ruth Nissley of Mt. Joy. She was preceded in death by five sisters.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, February 16, at 10:00 A.M. at the Byerland Mennonite Church, 931 Byerland Church Road, Willow Street, PA with Pastors Joe Garber, Jay Hess and Leon Martin officiating. Friends may call at the church on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. and on Friday from 9:00 until the time of the service. Interment in the adjoining church cemetery.
